PostSubject: Sunday 20th only two grade5's.   Sun Jan 13, 2013 7:54 pm

Well you all well most of you had a nice little jaunt in the sun today ,so it's back to work next week with a gentle run up to Horton Hill the a nice little meander through Castle Coombe up Colerne and if you want it you mad bloody masochists can do Bannerdown down and up whilst I am in the cafe eating and drinking tea.
For those who are interested I think Nick holds the speed record down Tog hill at about 46 mph. Any contestants ready to step forward?

Usual start time and place if the threatened snow does come we will have a back up ready.

That's if the village hall is not booked lol!

I think I may have equalled the 46 down Toghill last time we did it, just as I was passing Peter who got a big wobble.

I will see you all Sunday!

It seems nearly every time we come down that hill someone gets a near uncontrollable wobble. Personally I think high speed descending is a necessary evil of the professional sport and I'd guess where most of their fatalities occur, even given their skill levels.

I know and I tend to agree but it's the only time I can ever come close to overtaking anyone Sad

Tog Hill blows as a descent, you need to pedal like crazy at the top to get any decent speed and pedalling on descents goes against my lazy nature :p I notice there's a Strava downhill segment for it though...

Ah a Strava downhill section that rather throws Martins "F*** Strava and eat something" out of the window as the little skinny Strava'its (is that a word?) Cant get any speed up.
lol!

If someone lets me take their Garmin just down Tog Hill then i will have a crack at 46 + mph, wind permitting.

Tricky, getting the optimum wind assistance whilst avoiding the dreaded "follow through" when having a "crack" @ it.

I know you hate the "I can't make it" posts, so feel free to slap me... I can't make it despite saying I could. Unfortunately I was looking at the wrong week on the work rota and I'm at work Sunday.

I'm really disappointed as I like the area for the planned ride Sad

I'm not available the next two weekends, work and life seem to get in the way, but I hope to catch up with you all some time soon.

Any one help?
I have a new chap coming over from Aussie land to ride with us for a few weeks
Any one coming to the start on Sunday who can meet and greet in town?

Quote:-
I am stay at the Radisson town if that works for anyone?

I have Australian work phone I am bringing but am planning to buy a local sim card for my phone….cheaper that way rather than paying for international roaming from here.

Will contact you on the number below on Saturday.
Iain.

Adam, to protect your privacy I have deleted your number form your post as this part of the forum is open to everyone and not just NBCC members. It is probably better to PM personal details rather than using the forum.

Scott: I'll take responsibility for the Aussie. Not sure I'll be quite fit enough for the ride, but I'm sure I can at least show the way to costa. It'll be a nice way to get back in the saddle.

I really am not being optimistic about the forecast weather, Heavy snow all day Friday and on Saturday. Malmesbury and Tog always get shed loads if that happens.

Hopefully not too much for the ride.

As Mark says don't put e mails or Numbers on the forum as parts are open to the pubic.PM is safe as only the recipient gets it not even the Admin can read them.

If you click on the Map my Ride link it should show them in the elevation profile but I think one is Horton and the other is the climb into Colerne if you want to go down and back up Bannerdown you could make it three.
