PostSubject: Sunday 8th May - Going South or North ?   Mon May 02, 2011 6:28 pm

Thinking of heading South or North next weekend. I fancy Wotton Hill, but could be presuaded to go to Clevedon. Anyone interested ? I will post up the route later in the week.

I was out this morning with a couple of old friends, killer Shirenewton route ..... Coming back on the bridge was unbelievable with the wind, struggling to get 10mph on the downhill. Only managed 38 mph out of Wentworth Forest http://soc.li/6RYAPTC This was the route if anyone interested.

Will change parts of this on the way back to avoid major roads. There are a few hills in this however I would class this as an intermediate ride.

Therefore if anyone is thinking about testing themselves and you haven't been out for a longer ride with us then this would be a good one. Unfortunately there will be no cake stops for this but we do stop at the top of hills !

There is one big hill (Wotton Hill) which is a test but the sense of achievement when you top it is great, you may even surprise yourself.

Bit of rain forecast http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/dayforecast.asp?zipcode=BRISTOL&day=4

Happy to answer any questions.

Unless the weather is dire I'll be there. Would prefer a non A38 return leg.

Bit too windy for me. Great route and good company but wind made it a bit uncomfortable. Suffered on this one so am going to take some time off the bike.

Got home ok Neil, didn't have too long to wait. Not only did the chain snap but 3 inches was missing. Rear mech fubar and also gear hanger is bent plus qr spindle had snapped and flat spot on tyre. Had to go out on another bike for 2 hours to make up for it.

Good to know you got back ok Pete.

Took a while for me to warm up today with that strong chilly wind. Almost 20 miles until I felt comfortable.

One solid 45 mile ride for me with plenty of time spare to watch the telly! Smile
