PostSubject: Bristols biggest bike ride   Sun May 29, 2011 11:12 pm

It seems that a number of us have been cajoled into this ride.
I will post the details and links when I get a minute.
Most seem to be partaking of the Sustrans ride to portishead.

I'm on the ride, with the intention of going on the Clevedon challenge. I will have to program a route into my gps this week.

Just received the pamphlet re the bike ride.it shouldn't be to much of a problem to cop the route onto Mapmyride or similar. If you get any problems doing so drop me a line and I will have a go for you.If you do manage to plot can you post up the gpx (save me or any one else doing the same route the effort)
I am most likely partaking of the shorter Portishead ride.so I will race you to the bridge then leave you for ice cream at Portishead sea front.
Who else is taking part?Anybody or have you all died out there....

I will be there with the family so it will be slow and short ride for us.

Think I might do it on the folder to make it interesting! Smile

Port-zed or Clevedon that is the question?Advantage of the Clevedon ride is no muddy cycle track to come back on disadvantage is Brockley Coombe.

Hi all, I've just received a note form the oganisers of Bristol's Biggest Ride to advise that due to road works on Felton Lane and Barrow Road that the route maybe altered to the one published in their booklet. Diversion signs will indicate an alternative route.

I'll be starting from Millenium square I think, and hoping to get around the clevedon challenge in less than 3 hours, it's mostly flat until Brockley Coombe Smile

PostSubject: Sunday Weather   Fri Jun 10, 2011 10:28 pm

Didn't manage a road ride last Sunday due to rain, managed 30 minutes on the turbo. Plan to leave at 8.45 from Kingswood via the cycle path unless it's pouring. If it's not raining at 8.45 will go for it. In answer to the Whippet's post, it's a 9.30 start, 38 mls at 15 mph, 12 o'clock back at the start, time to spare. If the plan is to use the cycle path, what time and where can we meet?

Well since the Bristol big ride was canceled we cycled over to the Bespoked bike show instead for "shelter".

WOW the bikes!!!. Custom steel bikes everywhere.. AWESOME..

I just have to explain the Mrs about the blip in the next bank statement :s

Didn't have a decent camera on me as it was a very last minute decision to go, but there are some pics on BR

Wimp!
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/91820901
We did the bristol biggest bike farce.
So called cancelled due to accident on the portway. There was a van on the pavement stuffed against the railings. As the Portway was shut and the accident happened at about 06.00hrs this am and the road is dual carriageway what was all that about!!!Or was it the fact that in trying to promote cycling in the country we cancel the ride cause it's raining.
I rode with roog, and aerobully and met up with Peter and Bobbydazler, sorry about disturbing your Points West interview, but at least they didn't get a shot of you coming a cropper.! Very Happy

Thanks Scott,
It's lucky that he didn't capture my little "incident", as predicted my bruise is coming along nicely.
I'm away again for the next couple of weekends so I should be back for the start of July, hopefully bringing the sunshine too.
