I happy to go with the flow. I quite enjoyed this ride http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/34433202/ and you never know I may have a go at the hill this time! Last Sunday afternoon I took myself across to Chepstow which was a little less windy and much drier than the last time we went across a couple of weeks back.

Hi all, I've been given the green light to go out on Sunday, so I'm looking forward to meeting with as many of you as possible Smile

I've noticed not many bags in the pics I've seen ... take it I prob ought to try to fill up my jersey pockets instead of the usual backpack? (Though I can't see how you'd keep stuff dry in those pockets if raining!) I've always carried a backpack so far ...

I'm coming from Southmead ... I know the Bradley Stoke Tesco ... where there is the meeting though please? e.g. Giant store end ...

Underneath the sign advertising Subway.
If I can make it you will know me or at least my bike it's an Argos 5 bar gate.
And I shall most likely be sitting down having a coffee and cookie b4 the off.

I'll leave the long sleeve jersey in the wardrobe and slap on some factor 50. It'll feel like I'm back in Australia!

Forgot to mention that I picked up my first puncture yesterday near Hambrook. Not bad considering I've done almost 450 miles without one. Now I've said that I think I'll take two spare tubes for the ride on Sunday.

I pass Hambrook on my usual commute route ... only problem I've had there is a crash with another cyclist on where the cycle path crosses the bridge (heading from Hambrook towards Emerson's Green way) round the sort of blind corner at the ends of the bridge, took me weeks to venture back that way after that, after having flash backs, hate that section!

Suncream ... not had to use that really in 2 years of commuting, and I cycle every day to work, routes between 10.5 and 18 miles each way, not having an on the road car (its SORN'd) but agree Sunday looks like it'll need it Smile Shame I've only got black jersey's!

I've just recently (past month) started carrying 2 tubes, not sure I can get it all comfortably into me pockets though Razz

2 tubes, puncture kit, 2 spare mech hangers, 2 tyre levers,
1 hexus II multitool, chain power link (1 9 speed, 1 10 speed),
tyre patch .... all in ...

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lezyne-caddy-sack-tool-bag/

And that still leaves 2 pockets for keys, phone, gels, food ....

2 mech hangers!?! How often do you break these?

@Jam I wont be able to make this ride as I have other commitments. However I can meet you before you set off to pay for the cassette.

useful method for joining a chain. can be taken apart so the chain
can be removed for cleaning then join it back up when done. Also handy when
a chain fails "in the field" for get you home repairs :-)

This is the SRAM 10 speed version, but there are others :-)

Robin ... you can also use a very cheap kids pencil case
to do the same job - the 99p clear plastic ones work well :-)

Been meaning to get a chain power link, think someone gave me one once, but it was a SRAM one and I have a Shimano chain ..

Guessing http://www.wiggle.co.uk/kmc-10-speed-chain-links/?&source=MaxiFeed&id=5360031117 would be the equivalent one for Shimano? Would love to be able to take off chain for cleaning!
