We had a few do this last year Gordon and jo and Brandy and Marcus did it.Spoke highly of it.Except Gordons bike was damaged on the return transport but I am pretty sure that the organisers sorted it out for him.

Luckily my dad's best mate lives in croydon! Smile but just wondering if anyone from the club would like to do it?

I'm toying with the idea - I've got a couple of shorter rides pencilled in throughout July and I'm going to see how I'm going in them before I commit to this.

If you completed the weston ride on the 17th then you will deffo be able to do the bristol 100. I did it last year as my 1st ever sportive and completed it in 6hrs 25mins. I stopped at Marlbourgh ( 45 miles ) and lunch at Theale ( 75 ) mmiles, mainly flat all along the a4 past newbury etc. I really enjoyed last year, I am signed up !!!!. Gordon did have his carbon frame damaged and they replaced it with an identical one.

JDI !!!

any more interest? it's only a couple of weeks away.

there's a group of Spire Hospital workers doing it, whom i'm mildy acquainted with, but uuhhhh...the ones i've talked to: 1 doesn't have a bike yet, and another has only done 35miles max.

yeah.

I was keen to ride it, but I've just been to sign up and to take part it's going to cost:

  • £20 registration fee;
  • £30 minimum sponsorship;
  • £15 bike transport

Adding in a couple of beers at the end, this is gonna cost over £75!

I might still ride the route, but if I do I'll piggyback it and chuck some in a charity tin to appease my guilt. Compulsory sponsorship really gets my goat.

that makes 30.00 for a local sportive seem positively cheap by
comparison !!!
