I'm hoping to get some cycling in during the week, Wednesday and Thursday are looking the best days at the mo. Starting from Bradley Stoke, probably late morning to give any frosty patches time to thaw. Watch this space for details.

Excellent Pat. Have decided to opt for Thursday due to the better forecasted temps and, like the birds in winter, am going to head south.

The Route.

Leaving at 10 am from Costa, Bradley Stoke

Great - just remembered I have plans with the wife-to-be tomorrow anyhow. See you Thursday morning.

Yes Pat, I was planning on stopping at Heathers Coffee Shop (with the humungous cakes) in the garden centre in Congresbury.

On closer inspection of the route I noticed that in places RWGPS had got the mileages wrong and it was coming up with a total mileage of about 66. Did this prompt your comment "the ride's pretty long already" ? I've now sorted out the mileage anomalies and the true mileage comes out at just over 50. I've made a small tweak to the route around Bristol Zoo so I suggest you download the route again Route.

See you tomorrow.

Ah just the 50 miles, we should probably head up Burrington then...! Nah let's stick to the route, looks perfick. In the event that the temperature is a bit lower than planned (and there's ice risk) when I'm due to leave I might meet you at Long Ashton but it should be fine looking at the forecast. BTW is that path through Ashton Court paved?

Yes it is BUT if there is any threat of ice I would avoid as it will not be gritted

According to the forecast there shouldn't be any ice but I'm not so sure about the Clifton Suspension Bridge what with it being all exposed. To remove all doubt, from Bradley Stoke I/we will go straight down the Gloucester Road into the Centre, along Anchor Road, Hotwell Road and out to Long Ashton on the A370. I know we'll be mixing it with City traffic but it will be exciting !

Good shout Scott.

Nice one Gary... I'll text you in the morning if I decide to meet you at Long Ashton, otherwise see you at 10am Costa.
