Me and the other Rich will be taking you to Tintern next week. 45 mile trip, all welcome, no-one left behind Smile

Lunch at the Old Station where I think we are meeting the others. I'll confirm stop can cope with numbers asap.

Nice one Rich, a return to the values that the club was based on.

"We are not a competition orientated group and we vary our rides to suit the pace of the members on each run."

See you Sunday.

Yes there have been a number of members saying that the main club rides are getting a bit quick THIS IS NOT WHAT WE ARE ABOUT.The slowest in the group should be at the front NOT hanging off the back.!!!!!!!
PLEASE TRY TO REMEMBER WHAT WE WERE FOUNDED ON OTHERWISE WE WILL FOLD.If you want to race then join a race club!!!!!!!!!!!!
if you lot dont behave I shall be joining you on one of your rides and that will slow you all down. Very Happy

Hi folks, reading the comments with interest - I'd be interested in some feedback from Sunday's main ride re: ride pace?

I tried to keep it pretty steady as ride leader - we averaged around 15mph which hopefully is about right for the quicker group? We had a couple of stronger riders up front pushing the pace a little at times, but the group stayed together - we always waited at the top of hills or at junctions if there was a split, as we always have.

If anyone found it a little too quick please let me know and I'll adjust accordingly next time I'm leading.

Thank you Pat all this talk of 17mph etc is NOT for the sunday rides .As I said the slowest should be at the front not at the back

If anyone on a club ride is having trouble keeping up then SLOW DOWN make the buggers wait.Social riding is more important than speed

Pat, I was riding Audax last weekend so missed your ride, 15mph average is is fine (looking back over my last 4 years of NBCC rides, that is probably the norm) as long as the group stays together.

The problem comes when people are posting up times/speeds of 17mph on a CAKE RIDE which is meant to be our easy/ introductory ride and people are getting dropped.

To all ride leaders and potential ride leaders, the ride leader doesn't always lead from the front. You ride to the ability of the group, encouraging the newer/slower members by placing them in the group and giving them a wheel to follow and when they are struggling. Belting of the front at speed, waiting for them to catch up and racing off again before they have caught their breath is counter productive to an enjoyable ride for everyone.

I've planned a route for Sunday rides. Should sort this mess out and keep everyone together. You'll just catch up with each other cheers

Cafe stop can be Aztec West hotel for some Sunday lunch. Yum yum yum

I only mentioned 'No one gets left behind' to encourage and not put off anyone thinking of joining. It wasn't a gripe on anything that has happened. Smile

Let's leave this now as this is a brilliant club and any issues can easily be resolved by talking in person on a future ride.

- See you all Sunday, in good spirits Smile

The food stop comes about 27 miles in so what do think? faster boys 2 hrs or so, slower ones 2.5 +
So (and this is where my GSE in maths comes in )If we leave at 10.00 plus 2 equals 12 ish or 12.30 for the slower group ! Exclamation then we throw in Schrödinger's Cat into the ring what about mechanical's, punctures etc so it's anyone's guess .
