Todays details, well according to my Garmin.
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/115347838
44.4 miles 3 hrs 14 min moving time 13.7 mph avg.2250ft climbing.

Well we missed most of the weather except for Marshfield ,but then it does have its own micro climate.I was so pleased that the new cafe was open I think if it was shut I would of been lynched but egg and bacon pots of tea and cake went down really well.
I have their phone number now so if we go that way again i can forewarn of numbers and rough eta.then ring up 15mins prior to arrival. They are hoping to get an extension to the cafe so we won't have to muscle in on the other patrons next time. They have only been open a short time but I think we all agree they did their best to accommodate 12 cold wet VERY hungry bike riders.
That was my first time down Tog hill and I don't know why but the bike got the shivers halfway down.Never had it on the Argos before but oh boy it's very very scary not even going really fast only about 38mph normally go faster than that down long hills. It might of been a combination of wind rain water etc.Need to check everything out tonight.Any thoughts anyone?.
Talking to riders today it looks like next Sunday to Stroud is a goer so get some practice in.The following week ie 1st Oct on the Sat is the Tasty Cheddar and the Sunday is the last WI cake stop Pavlova ride so thats going to be a busy weekend for me but the Pavlova is only short and gentle so shouldn't be a problem.More details else where.

Hi all, another great ride and just over 50 miles for me. Also two firsts. 1. Stung by a wasp 2. Falling off bike whilst mounting the pavement (note to self. Do not try to mount kerbs when they are slippery and wet!)

Well done all of you, I didnt like the look of the weather and for personal reasons this has been the first Sunday I haven't been out for a bike ride in a very long time. I did however see you all coming down the hill at Wick, near the Rose and Crown pub, for the record, I was driving in the opposite direction!

Nice ride you all had, especially Horton Hill, that hill had me beat a few times, although I'm hoping things might be a bit different now. Today I was cycling into headwinds and rain on the somerset levels on the Cheddar Sportive, I'm meant to be doing the Bristol Belter next weekend, suffering in the Mendips is fun occasionally but I've seen the cheddar gorge 3 times this week, and I'm tired of it now! Might join you all next week Smile

Great turnout today (Sunday) and an excellent route to boot. I too was hoping to set a new maximum speed record coming down Tog Hill but was it wasn't to be. With the rain stinging my face and peering through rainy glasses I think the desire to live to ride another day over-rid any desire to break the land speed record.

Yeah was a good ride, weather was great for the first 30 miles, then not so great for the rest :p Nice to go on some roads I've not been on before (at least that I can remember). That Tog Hill descent could be a good place to try and hit 60mph next year...
