Going saff for the winter just like our feathered friends, but wait a minute, the warmest October temperature ever has just been recorded! Reality check! This is England, we shall probably get half a centimetre of snow at the weekend and the country will grind to a halt.

I just tapped a rough route into Map My Ride along the lines wot you suggested and took an almighty sharp intake of breath, then I remembered the MMR default map setting is in kilometeres. Phew! Route is looking in the region of 60 miles, note to self, stock up on energy bars and vaseline.

I can't believe it. Talk of vaseline, gels and creams and no one has put a foot to the pedal. I'm so looking forward to Burrington Coombe again! 3rd time this year.

Prevention is better than cure as my grandma used to say. I can't afford the likes of Assos, Udderly Cream or the highly recommended Bag Balm, so it's a tub of Sudocrem for me. Anyone have any home-brewed concoctions they swear by ?

Udderly and Assos only work out around £1 a ride though, if that, so it's not exactly an extravagance Wink Problem I have with Sudocrem is it's so greasy, it's a nightmare to get off your hands, it does seem to come out of shorts in a low temp wash though which is good. If you're happy with the extra hassle then I don't think you'll get cheaper.

I guess anything ending in Coombe is going to involve a hill of some description. At least we can grab an ice cream at Clevedon. Thats assuming that it will be 25 degrees again this Sunday!

You're only supposed to put it on thinly. When I used it it didn't take long to rub in, and now my fingers are as smooth as a baby's bum. If anyone else is thinking of giving their b.u.m. some t.l.c. best value is from Asda where a 250g tub of Sudocrem is £3.50. You'll find it in the baby aisle.

Its been a long time since I last rode out with you all.

Difficulty being that the teenager in the house plays football on Sunday mornings and getting the wife to take him is like getting blood out of a stone.

Anyway, I am trying my damndest (is this a real word???) to get it sorted for this ride. Will keep you updated.

I know I haven't been out on a ride for quite a while now. Due to other Sunday commitments it's been very difficult for me.

However I'll pop over to say "Hi" before you set off cheers

Weather forecast not looking too bad at the moment although it won't be as warm as last week. I might need to get myself some tights!
