    Newport Velodrome excursion

    Post  schleck_wannabe on Tue Jul 06, 2010 1:35 pm

    Hi all,

Do I remember hearing someone say on Sunday that they were thinking of organising a trip for a session at the Newport Velodrome?...or did I dream it?

If it's happening, then I'm up for it - and Jo's willing to give it a go as well - we might need a bit of tuition though!

Looking at their website I'm not sure if it's possible to go for just a single session as a novice rider - unless anyone knows different:

    http://www.newport.gov.uk/_dc/index.cfm?fuseaction=leisure.centres&contentid=CONT067624

On the facilities page there is mention of a drug testing room:

    http://www.newport.gov.uk/_dc/index.cfm?fuseaction=leisure.centres&contentid=devxp001384

does that mean that we can go and try out different drugs before deciding which ones work best?

    -Gordon

(apologies for any offence caused by drug related humour)

I'm currently trying cod liver oil is that a banned substance?

I'd like to try a velodrome but I'm a bit worried about the speed differential between me and them!

I assume you can hire a bike?

Looks like Drop in sessions for beginers are Monday afternoon 2pm to 4pm

So A/L would be required for some of us, er in doors might not be best pleased!

I'll check with a mate who uses it from time to time

    Hi

    New to this forum

I've been to Manchester Velodrome quite a few times and the people there a very friendly and helpful. It nice to think your cycling round a track that wiggins and Hoy whizz round

As for riding a track bike so long as your used to a fixie its fairly simple, just don't forget no freewheeling and no brakes!

Never been to Newport Veldrome though

Looks like this Velodrome malarkey has raised its ugly head again.your best bet is to nag Gordon.
As I used to say to my mum years ago about my brother
    'HE STARTED IT!!!' NOT ME!!

    Hi Solarized,

I'm up for giving it a go, but I think that I definitely need a novice session if that's an option as I've never ridden a fixie or on a track.

I'd be up for some of that!

Will you be asking for that lycra skinsuit for Christmas then?
